NSW ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT

The annual meeting of AIIA NSW will be held at The Glover Cottages on Tuesday September 27 at 6pm. This is an important date for members’ diaries as it is your chance to choose the people you wish to run our Institute.

All officers and members of the committee of management (the council) cease to hold their positions at this meeting, providing the opportunity for a new team to be elected.

Only fully paid up members of AIIA NSW may stand for office, or for a position on the management committee. And only paid up members may vote, but it is not too late to join if you wish to influence the way the Institute is run. To apply for membership, please complete the form online.

The office holders that must be elected include the president, one vice president, (with the second to be nominated by the elected president), the treasurer, and the secretary.  The secretary is currently the only paid official, compensated for working the equivalent of one day per week. In addition four members of the management committee need to be elected.

Nomination forms will be available at our meeting on Tuesday 16 August, and at future meetings. From Tuesday they will also be available on line on this web site, or you may request one by email to our company secretary, Jennifer Sayle. ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. All nominees must be proposed and seconded by members, who must obtain the consent of the nominee that he or she is prepared to stand.

If there is more than one nomination for any office, or more than four nominations for the committee of management, there will be a ballot at the annual meeting.

Other business at the annual meeting will include the president’s and treasurer’s annual reports. Both will be published after the meeting on this web site.

There also may be some special resolutions, which will be circulated with the agenda prior to the meeting.

After the formalities of the meeting, members and their guests will be invited to drinks and refreshments, and a forum to discuss the future direction of AIIA NSW. The discussion will be led by the elected president.
