The annual Indonesia-Australia dialogue will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel, Sydney, on Sunday 3 March and Monday 4 March. The Dialogue aims to build closer non-government relations and understanding between Indonesia and Australia.
The Foreign Minister, Senator Bob Carr, will deliver a keynote speech at 9am, Monday 4 March.
The dialogue is co-chaired by the Executive Director of the Centre for Strategic and International Studies, Rizal Sukma, and former Australian Ambassador to Indonesia and AIIA National President, John McCarthy. The Australian Institute of International Affairs was selected by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to act as secretariat for the Dialogue for a second time this year.
Indonesian participants include the former Indonesian Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda, the Chief Editor of the Jakarta Post, Meidyatama Suryadiningrat, and Sandra Hamid from the Asia Foundation. Australian participants include Stephen Creese from Newcrest Mining, Professor Tim Lindsay from the University of Melbourne and former Australian of the Year, burns specialist Professor Fiona Wood.
