The Australian Institute of International Affairs presents
His Excellency Mr. Justin Brown
Mr Brown has been Australian High Commissioner to Canada since 2008. During his career in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade he has held a wide range of positions dealing with trade policy and economic issues. He is a former Australian Ambassador for the Environment and was also chief negotiator for Australia in its bilateral free trade negotiations with Thailand. His previous postings have been in Los Angeles, Brussels and Copenhagen.
"The G20 Toronto Summit - outcomes"
Canada hosted the G20 summit on 26-27 June, the first institutionalised gathering of the grouping. Canada’s objectives for the Toronto summit were closely aligned with Australia’s, reflecting similarities in our financial regulatory structures. Canada also hosted a G8 summit prior to the G20. This presentation will cover the main outcomes from the summits, and discuss Canada’s positioning within the world’s premier economic steering group.
