China and the Resources Super Profits Tax

Professor Leong Liew

Professor Leong Liew is the Head of Department, International Business and Asian Studies, Griffith Business School, Griffith University.

Professor Liew will present a simple non-technical analysis of the resources super profit tax (RSPT) or its variant from China's perspective as an investor and customer of Australia's resource sector.

Leong Liew's area of research interest is China’s political economy and has published widely on China’s exchange rate policy, its economic reform and its responses to globalisation. His last book (with Harry X Wu in 2007) was The Making of China's Exchange Rate Policy. He delivered a lecture at the Lowy Institute in 2009 on 'China and the Global Financial Crisis' and has recently completed a project on China's  sovereign wealth fund.
