In late October members of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI), accompanied by officials from Defence and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, will be in Beijing for the annual Track1.5 strategic dialogue between Australia and China. This will be the eighth meeting in this dialogue series which commenced in 2003.
Dr Andrew Davies, ASPI's operations and capability program director, will participate in this dialogue. In the third in the series of our joint Sydney meetings with ASPI, he will discuss the current strategic issues that engage Australia and China.
Andrew Davies has been with ASPI since 2006. He has written extensively on military developments in the region, ADF capability and force structuring issues, including hardware options, industry issues, decision-making in the Department of Defence and ways of more effectively employing Reserve forces. Before joining ASPI, Andrew spent twelve years in the Department of Defence.
