The Asian security landscape is changing at a dramatic rate as China ventures into blue water capability, the Korean peninsula remains as tense as ever and Southeast Asian nations are developing their own military capability commensurate with their economic growth. The security imperatives of these Asian nations are drawing closer to collision as Sea Lanes of Communication (SLOC) and energy access becomes contended with a number of disputed territories. Dr Neville Meaney from the University of Sydney, will offer us a valuable perspective. Drawing on his extensive knowledge of the historical forces that have shaped the region Dr Meaney will offer his insights on the effects that modernisation will have on our major developing neighbours.

Dr Neville Meaney, Associate Professor at the University of Sydney, has a long standing research interest in international history, especially concerning the way in which ideology, culture and geopolitics have interacted.
