The 10-member ASEAN, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, is the most dynamic and durable regional grouping in the developing world, and Australia’s major Asia-Pacific trade partner. This seminar will examine ASEAN’s recent drive for deeper economic integration, against the backdrop of the region’s rapid economic development and great diversity, and of the evolving Asia-Pacific economic architecture.
Professor Hill’s research interests are the economies of ASEAN. He has researched these economies since the 1970s. He is the author of many books and academic papers. He headed the ANU’s Indonesia Project from 1986 to 1998. He has worked as a consultant for the Australian Government, the Indonesian Government, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and several UN agencies.
