The Australian Financial Review’s Colleen Ryan will moderate an engaging panel session exploring Australia-China relations including understanding China’s strategic interests, long term and short term policy directions and Australia’s vital interests over coming decades.

Colleen Ryan is the China Correspondent for the Australian Financial Review (2005-2010) and was editor from 1998-2002 and Washington correspondent from 1996-1998.

The panel will comprise:

  • Dr Rong Ying,  Vice President of the China Institute of International Studies, Beijing, and an expert on China's foreign relations, including with the U.S. and India.
  • Professor Peter Drysdale AM, Emeritus Professor of Economics at the ANU, and an expert on international trade and economic policy in East Asia.
  • Mr Doug Ritchie, Chief Executive Energy, Rio Tinto.
