About Us
ACCESS operates under the auspices of the AIIA. We aim to make the AIIA accessible to younger people. The AIIA remains the parent organization and all aspects of ACCESS complement AIIA membership for the younger generations.
Combining the benefits of a professional association and a social club, ACCESS fuses social and professional objectives of the growing number of students and young professionals that are under 35 seeking international careers.
Unprecedented in Victoria, ACCESS caters for a diverse range of international disciplines and industries across the professional and academic spectrum including politics, business and finance, law, development and journalism.
ACCESS was established to provide resources to younger AIIA members, to be an informal forum to encourage and facilitate debate on international affairs, and as a means to foster networking and promote professional skills development.
As a network for students and young professionals, ACCESS is centred on an Executive Committee. Each Executive Committee member holds an ACCESS Portfolio that cover areas such as publications, events, social media and marketing and governance.
VISION
- ACCESS, the AIIA’s Network for Students and Young Professionals, aims to provide young individuals with the opportunity to learn, network and exchange ideas, to foster the development of new leadership and engagement in our international community.
PURPOSE
- To provide a platform for students and young professionals to discuss and develop their knowledge of international affairs;
- To encourage and facilitate debate and the exchange of ideas on international affairs through open discussion;
- To remain non-partisan and accessible to all members of Australian society;
- To provide invaluable networking opportunities and promote the development of personal and professional skills development;
- To foster the development of new leadership in our international community and young people's engagement; and
- To bridge the gap between ACCESS and the Australian Institute of International Affairs’ Victorian members.
