75th Anniversary National Conference 7 - 8 August 2008, Melbourne

75th Annual Conference The Australian Institute of International Affairs (AIIA) hosted a National Conference to mark the 75th Anniversary of the Institute's foundation as a national organisation. This historic occasion brought together those with an interest in international issues from a variety of areas including government, diplomacy, academia, NGOs, cultural organisations and the wider community.

The AIIA would like to thank all those who participated in the Conference and sincerely hope that all attendees found the experience as positive, informative and worthwhile to take part in as we at the Institute did to host.

The full conference program included:

National Conference at the Plaza Ballroom, Thursday 7 August

The conference involved discussion by high-level Australian and distinguished international speakers on Australia's role in the world as seen through through the lens of past experience and future challenges.

Reception and Private Gallery Viewing, Thursday 7 August

The reception included an evening cocktail party and exclusive private viewing of the Masterpieces of Art Deco 1910-1930 exhibition.

 

Research Forum on Conflict and Security, Friday 8 August

Targeted policy debate on security and conflict issues with regional and international experts.
